Native speaker here, I think the answer from ChrisCtr is the best, if he was talking about the Madrileñan accent that makes 'cocina' sounds to us like 'cothina' rather than 'cosina'. The first 'c' in Madrid 'cocina' is the same as 'th' in Thursday, etc.
