You work hard for your money. Naturally, you want to be able to access your cash when you need it — even when the banks are closed. If you bank with Citi, you probably have questions about your Citi ATM limits for your checking and savings accounts. Keep reading to learn what you need to know about withdrawing cash from a Citi ATM.

Understanding Limits on Withdrawals, Deposits and Transfers

Here’s an overview of the limits on ATM withdrawals, deposits and transfers with Citi.

ATM Withdrawal Limits

The daily ATM withdrawal limit depends on the type of Citi checking account you have. If you have the Citigold® Account or the Citi Priority Account, you can withdraw up to $2,000 per day from a Citi ATM. If you have any other Citi account, your withdrawal limit is $1,000.

What Is the Maximum Amount of Money I Can Spend Using a Citi Debit Card?

Citi customers with the Citigold® Account or the Citi Priority Account can spend up to $10,000 a day with a Citi debit card. If you have any other kind of Citi account, you can spend up to $5,000 per day with your Citibank debit card. That includes both in-person and online debit purchases.

What Is the Maximum Deposit Limit for Citi ATMs?

There’s no limit to the amount you can deposit in a Citi ATM. However, some Citi ATMs in non-bank locations may have limits on how many bills they can accept.

How Quickly Will My Money Be Available After I Make an ATM Deposit?

If you make a cash deposit, it is available in your account within minutes. Check deposits are subject to hold before releasing funds.

Most of the time, your check gets released on the business day following the date of your deposit. However, in cases where your full check may not be released, the first $225 becomes available one business day after you deposit the check. The remaining balance is released once the check clears.

How Can I Increase My ATM Withdrawal and Deposit Limits?

Individual accounts have limits based on tier and relationship with Citi. You can call and request a temporary lift on your account limits and it may be granted. However, Citi may require that you upgrade your account to access high limits.

Does Citi Have a Transfer Limit?

The upper limit for transfers between linked Citibank accounts can be as much as $100,000 inbound monthly or inbound daily. However, those limits may vary based on your individual type of account and where you’re transferring the money to.

As for deposit accounts, if you have a Citigold® or a Citi Priority account, you have no daily or monthly limits on the amount you can transfer between accounts.

Transfers from Citi accounts to other banks are limited to $10,000 per day and up to $15,000 total every month.

How To Get Cash If You’ve Reached Your Limits

If you’ve already withdrawn your daily limit from the ATM and still need cash, here are a few ways you can access your money:

Request Cash Back When You Make a Debit Purchase

When you make an in-person purchase in a store using your Citi debit card, you can request cash back from the retailer. When you make your payment, a screen prompt will ask if you want cash back. Select “yes” and choose the amount you’d like, and the cashier will hand you the cash. Citibank doesn’t set limits on the amount of cash back you can receive, but many stores do place limits.

Withdraw Cash from Another Account

If you have an account separate from your primary account that has its own debit card, transfer money online. Then use the card associated with that account to access your funds.

Make a Withdrawal in Person at the Bank

When you need cash during banking hours, you can walk into any branch or stop at the drive-thru and make a withdrawal. You won’t face any limits, and you’ll be able to withdraw as much cash as you have available in your account.

Helpful Hint

If you find yourself reaching Citi account limits regularly, consider upgrading your accounts. But before you do, check the fine print for additional fees and requirements.

Understanding the daily limits for Citi ATMs can help prevent a situation where you need cash but aren’t able to get it. Knowing how much cash you have available to spend can also help you manage your money wisely.
