Today is #HAVhope Friday, a national day of awareness to highlight how America’s hospitals and health systems work to prevent violence.We stand together with American Hospital Association to protect health care employees from workplace violence and express our support for the Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees (SAVE) Act (H.R. 2584/S. 2768), bipartisan legislation to protect health care workers from workplace violence. 🏥Did you know that health care workers are five times more likely to be victims of violence in the workplace than any other profession? Studies indicate that in the last two years, 44% of nurses reported being subject to physical violence, and 68% reported verbal abuse. And, a significant number of incidents go unreported. Let’s protect health care workers by supporting the SAVE Act. 👩⚕️ 👨⚕️To address workplace safety, Inova has created a multidisciplinary Safety Always for Everyone (SAFE) team consisting of leaders in nursing, medicine, behavioral health, security, chaplains, and pharmacy. The SAFE teams respond to and mitigate violent incidents, conducting thorough debriefs and continuously updating policies and procedures.
