At Dobie High School, one of the best things I did was join the HOSA club. It was amazing to find something I was really passionate about, and I loved going to the meetings. I met a bunch of great people who were into healthcare too, and working on projects with them felt really rewarding.
But not everything was easy. I had a hard time figuring out how to find out about other clubs and important events. I didn’t even know what dual credit was until a teacher mentioned it, even though there were a lot of announcements and flyers. Sometimes, it felt like I was missing out. It was frustrating, but I learned that it’s important to ask questions and stay informed. Both the good and the tough parts of my freshman year have helped me grow a lot.

I'm grateful to be in J. Frank Dobie High School. I've met many great teachers who are understanding and helpful in any kind of way. They're the type who you can count on. The education there is great. You get many opportunities to prepare yourself for college. There's a lot of great people there and it feels like a second home to me. I've made many great memories in there so far, and I can't wait to make more. Obviously Dobie isn't perfect. Some students or teachers could be a bit of trouble or hard to deal with, but that isn't stopping Dobie from being a great school. All the people I know in there are like family to me. The only problems are probably the fights that happen, but they get taken care of so they don't last very long. They don't happen very often so it's no big deal. From my experience, I think Dobie High School is a great school to end your 4 years with. If someone asked me which high school would be best, I would reccomend Dobie.

J Frank Dobie High School provides a lot of opportunities for students like offering early college and a variety of extracurriculars. The teachers are always willing to help and make sure their students succeed by providing extra time out of class to review what is being taught.

J Frank Dobie prepared me in my first two years almost an entire four years worth of curriculum. This was a blessing to me because it allowed me to finish thse four years condensed into two so I could begin college level work. My last two years they helped me become a full time college student at the local community college where I was able to receive an associates degree before my high school diploma. They made this process as stress-free as possible and for that I am eternally grateful.

The best part of my experience at Dobie HS, is that we have a short day. I came from a charter school, in which a regular school day lasted from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, around 9-10 hours, which was really stressful. However, here at Dobie I have the chance to come out earlier.

The best parts about Dobie High School is the strong sense of community amongst the students. Whether it is in school activities, like football games, or within the classroom. Personally, the worst parts of my experience was my own struggles with anxiety due to the high academic competitiveness amongst my peers.

Honestly, my review can only apply to Early College HS students taking Pre-AP, AP, and college classes but whenever I was still at Dobie during sophom*ore year, it was alright.

Overall good school, there is good teachers, administration, counselors, etc. There have been some threats towards the school that strikes safety concerns but never any harmful action toward the school or students.

J. Frank Dobie High School allows its students to freely explore their thoughts of what they wish to do in school. They also give the proper resources to the students and teachers so that they could gain more in knowledge.

The best parts of my experience are being in the classroom and interacting in lessons which they are very cooperative when it comes to learning. They allow me to be more understanding of concepts that I didn't have knowledge of. This allowed me to develop my skills as a student by improving my learning ability and conceptual understanding in the classroom and discipline on staying consistent in learning what I struggle on.
The worst parts of my experience are that there are many students that are non disciplined and some teachers lack the ability to want to make a change in those students thus causing many things to occur between students affecting the whole school as a whole. I would like to see a change in campus activities such as volunteering and students wanting to make an impact on the community instead of harming it.

I experienced attending Dobie before and after COVID-19 quarantine and there had not been many regulations that changed or improved the safety of students, faculty, or teachers. The teachers were either excellent or horrible when it came to curriculum, behavior, and discipline. The mega-lunch was an amazing idea but the students were very bad-behaved; therefore, many fights occurred throughout the school quite often. I would hope there would be an improvement when it comes to regulating those students.

I believe that the strongest strength Dobie High school has is its teachers. Not only do they display compassion and morality, but acts of courage and kindness alike. The only thing I would hope to see change would be the distribution of lunch periods. As of right now, we are separated into three lunches that limit our education time and efficiency in school work, drastically affecting our grades by the day.

J Frank Dobie overall is an ok/good school. You can expect to succeed (depending on who your teachers are). The environment of the school is very prideful in who they are. The AP chemistry teacher is outstanding. Even though AP chemistry is a difficult course, the teacher made sure to take her time and explain the material and help students understand it thoroughly (she put tremendous effort into her students). She's the type of educator we need more of. This school recently acquired a new principal, so some changes that would get students to be on his side is to not treat them like middle school students. Another change I would like to see is changes in teachers' teaching methods (teachers need to survey their students on how they feel throughout the semesters so that they can have feedback to improve their teaching skills to help students).

Hi! My experience at J Frank Dobie was a pretty good one overall. I spent all four of my years there and I met some really cool people. I can attest to the quality of the AP teachers, as I took AP classes each year, and I can honestly say they were really good, despite the questionable ability of some of the on-level teachers. There are many different clubs/extra-curriculars I was involved in such as tennis, computer science, and chess. The highlights of my experience would be the friends I made and the relationships I established with some teachers. However, I would like to see a higher budget put into the security of the school, as there were a few different threats/incidents that occurred and still currently go on. Overall, despite what you may hear, Dobie is a solid high school to get a pretty decent education and a fun high-school experience as long as you hang with the right crowd and stay out of trouble.

My experience at Dobie High School has been good. The academics portion has been great, all of my teachers make sure that we are ready for what’s to come next. Especially my AP teachers, they really take their time to ensure that you’re ready for the AP test. Dobie does a good job of getting students to participate in school activities by making spirit weeks and pep rally’s. Overall the school environment is great, you can tell that the teachers and administrators are committed to the students and do what they can to help us.

The experience is great, I have been able to bowl with /against my peers and it has help me better skills being able to bowl at school and weekend with my bowling league. The competition the first time for me was awesome, I bonded with my classmates and our coach, he was willing to step up and be our coach, so we didn't have to shut down the bowling team. There's nothing that I would consider change about my school because we work together to make all things possible.
